Apparently, the report of his death was from some bozo in the LAPD, while Tom Petty was taken to a hospital in Malibu. I'm told that this means that the LAPD doesn't have any real information. (I don't know - I barely understand California on a good day.)

So, at the moment, he appears to be Schroedinger's Rocker: Neither alive or dead until we get a report from a first-hand observer.

EDIT: And confirmation. Damn it.
