He also starred in a television public service announcement warning British children to look before crossing the street!* I am completely serious. Sad news. I've never quite forgiven George Lucas for not letting him suit up for the Vader "cameo" at the end of Revenge of the Sith, even though it obviously made no functional difference to the finished product. Sentimentality, George. It's a thing you've built most of your career on, if we're honest. --G. * But not the one that rejoiced in the stupendously forced acronym "SPLINK". That was Jon Pertwee. Again, I'm not making this up. -><- Benjamin D. >He also starred in a television public service announcement warning >British children to look before crossing the street!* I am completely >serious. I just discovered that Prowse considered this as his greatest achievement, and in fact it's what got him awarded an MBE for services to charity and road safety. He was "Green Cross Man", a superhero character in a cheesy green and white outfit with a big green "X" on the front. <sigh> I didn't realise he was so old. May the Force be with him. -- Unable to save the day: File is read-only. |
