"John Blanche (1948-2026)"

On the first of this month, John Blanche passed away.

He was arguably the most influential artist at Games Workshop, working there for over forty years which I suspect is one of, if not the, longest tenures of anyone there, much less in a creative role.

Love it or hate it, Warhammer Fantasy and 40,000 have had enormous impact on roleplaying, wargaming and various fields of art, which have inspired a lot of people to try things they wouldn't otherwise have done. I think that would be less so without John Blanche's decision to draw and share heroic, crazy and out there art when he was told there was no money it it.

For that I thank him.

D.
