"Winter 2026 anime"

And now, some further proof of my questionable taste in anime:

Tamon's B-side

Everybody has aspects of their personality that aren't on display all the time. In the case of Utage Kinoshita, it's the way she takes "fan" back to its roots - fanatic. In order to get money to spend on supporting idol Tamon Fukuhara, she works part-time as a housekeeper.

Then she gets assigned to cover the work for somebody who's out sick, and discovers that she's cleaning Tamon's apartment. But this isn't Tamon, smooth-talking hot idol of F/ACE; this is Tamon, depressed and with the worst case of imposter syndrome ever. Utage takes this surprisingly well for a self-declared priestess of the Church of Tamon.

They're...well, not so much made for each other as broken for each other. Their flaws interact nicely, which says good things about the writing.

(Also, the opening song, "Sweet Magic," is my idea of fun.)

The Demon King's Daughter is Too Kind!

Doux is exactly what a demon shouldn't be, according to the expectations of demon society. She's sweet, cute as a button, and throws around healing spells like she's paid for it.

Demon King Ahriman is the stereotype doting father, which doesn't help. This leaves Ahriman's right-hand, Jahi, in the position of trying to teach Doux how to torment, murder, and generally be demonic.

It's madcap comedy which is only broken up by the spots where Doux is singing. Those parts are cute, but ultimately not worth the time.

Kaya-chan isn't Scary

Kaya-chan is weird. All the kids at Hanamugi Kindergarten will tell you that. She does things that don't make any sense to the people around her.

This is because she's a psychic. She can see specters and channel psychic energy into her hands. She's been destroying the restless dead since she was a toddler. (In UF, the BPRD would be very protective of her, and probably try to hire her the minute she got out of college.)

This creates a mix of cute slice-of-life and horror story that somehow works. I get the feeling it's going to go deeper into horror than I normally like, but I'm sticking with it because I want to find out where this goes.
