"Steampunk Tower Defense (offline version)"

Here's a fun tower defense game that takes the category literally: instead of placing defenses along a pathway filled with enemies via a top-down view, in this side-view game, you place weapons on various ledges of a central tower to protect it from enemy attacks from both sides:

)

Here is a direct link to download the expanded, off-line version (still a small game -- only 26MB installation file) which is enjoyable for a few hours at at time: http://dl.freegamesdl.net/games/Steampunk-Tower_www.FreeGamesDL.net.zip

Do note that this game was meant for a mobile platform, so PC gaming controls are mouse-only unless you have a touchscreen monitor.

I really dig the Art Deco-themed design:

...and the East European-influenced battle music (composed by Vadim Krakhmal, who also has done game music here: https://soundcloud.com/jeaniro)

You can also download this game for via Android or iTunes stores for smartphone/tablet.

Enjoy,

I'm pretty sure I've also seen that game on kongregate, for those that don't want to download/install the game to their computer. Pretty fun little game.

edit: (and then afterwards I noticed the 'offline version' in the title... man, I need more sleep)
