"The Orville *SPOILER FREE PLEASE*"

Did anybody else watch The Orville tonight, and if so, what did you think of it?

I rather liked it. It was nice to see a new SciFi show that didn't have the whole "Humans are bastards and deserve all the crap that happens to them" vibe that modern shows go all ga-ga over. Somebody posted on Facebook that his wife described it as "h, it's like TNG without everyone having a rod up their a$$."

A pretty apt description, I think.

Comments?

My wife and I watched it earlier this week.
It has potential, somethings didn't work that DO work well in his animated series (like the window washer/repair interruption).

My wife and I agree, that most of the negative reviews seem to be because people didn't get it. That they were expecting the absurdity of the Family Guy and American Dad, but in live action.
That is not Orville.

The special effects were well done, better than some movies in my wife's opinion.

But since it is FOX, don't expect more than 10 episodes.

I have to give the show serious props for one little detail: Seatbelts!

My nephew and I watched it the other night. Myself, I'm still uncertain, though I think its because I was, in fact, expecting more over the top stuff like Family Guy or American Dad without really realizing it

My nephew compared it to a middle of the road TNG episode... like something from season 3 where it just kinda vanishes into the background noise because its neither good nor bad, just is. Which then prompted a brainwave from myself:
"Its kinda like they handed a mediocre TNG script to a bunch of MST'ers, who then have to not only deliver the performance, but throw in their mst's as well."

Of COURSE you wernt
expecting it!
