"TF Profile: NIGHTSTICK"

   NIGHTSTICK
Allegiance:
Autobot
Function: Military Police Commander

"Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? That'd be me."

Bio: Even a force dedicated to freedom and decency, like the Autobots, needs policing. Thanks to its early roots as a ragtag corps of outlaw freedom fighters, the Autobot army has more than its share of rebels, tough guys, and outcasts, and when they don't have bad guys to fight, some of them get a little restless. The job of keeping the troops in line falls to the Autobot Military Police, a small group of professional officers dedicated to preserving the peace and not only looking after the civilian population of Cybertron, but also, if necessary, protecting Autobot soldiers from themselves.

The leader of this squad of part-enforcers, part-investigators is Nightstick, a tough veteran of the early wars. A former member of the fabled First Autobot Guards, Nightstick believes firmly in the mission of his force. He knows that his MPs have a reputation (as MPs have throughout military history) as humorless martinets more interested in enforcing arbitrary rules than in being part of the team, but he also knows that most of those rules only seem arbitrary, and that the need for his team and their services is critical to maintaining community goodwill and keeping the Autobot forces prepared to do their best in a crisis.

Weapons/Abilities: Nightstick has only average strength for an Autobot, but his heavily armored chassis can take a lot of punishment, which makes him ideal for breaking up fights and managing problem situations. He is equipped with an array of non-lethal weapons intended to make it easier for him to control riots and make arrests, including heavy blasters that can be set to harm or stun robotic targets, electrical energizers in his fists that can make his punches pack a disorienting wallops, and a smoke screen generator capable of obscuring an area of up to 25,000 square feet in a dense fog that confuses infrared and electromagnetic anomaly sensors as well as visual ones. He's also a master with a short vibro sword that can be tuned to stun or wound depending on need.

Nightstick's armored riot control vehicle mode is nearly impervious to weapons fire and, thanks to its concentrated weight, difficult to overturn. His large wheels and powerful engine give him the ability to negotiate almost any terrain, albeit slowly. In this form, he can also provide shelter for up to half a dozen humanoids or similarly-scaled Minicons.

Weaknesses: Nightstick's concentration on less lethal weaponry can hamper him if he finds himself in earnest combat. Though highly skilled, he is not as strong in robot mode as his heavily armored appearance might suggest. His heavy vehicle mode can sink in sufficiently unstable terrain. His role makes him unpopular with some of his comrades.

METANOTE: Nightstick is a new characterization for the "Cybertron Defense Hot Shot" figure from the Transformers Cybertron toy line. As seen in his CSI: New Avalon appearances, UF Hot Shot remains in his Transformers Energon form.
