"Lest monsters we become..."

I've been thinking about the whole Azalynn holding a grudge thing, and it occurred to me that it makes a lot of sense. Of all the people that Azalynn has dealt with who have pissed her off, Liza's the only one who she's never really been able to reach resolution on - either by getting away from them or seeing the issue resolved. Saonji came around once his head got fixed; Professor Harris is no longer teaching the Duelists, but they got into the other professor's section and solved that.

But Liza keeps going after her friends - Kate, Utena, Miki, Dorothy, Devlin. And not only that, but Liza kept getting worse, to the point of nearly getting some of them killed. And unfortunately, in fighting the monster that she thought Liza was, Azalynn ended up becoming like Liza. Certainly not to the same degree, but in the same direction.

I'm glad that Miki was able to snap her out of it - I always had this gut feeling that he was going to turn into a solid follower of Dantrovian Philosophy. He's a Dantrovian in Spirit, if not in Body. In many ways Azalynn and Liza are in the same boat now - their world view has been radically changed and they're not quite sure where they stand. And each of them, having realized their situation, are taking steps to try and reorient themselves to the new situation.

I applaud the Authors for their excellent character development and making the players in this drama seem about as "human" as fictional characters get. I look forward to reading more as it becomes available!

Ayup, she's losing her sense of Surkai. Probably not what she'd call it - since the Big G dislikes the origin material but the idea of 'admit wrongdoing, take punishment, not held against you' is very Dantrovian to my mind.

If she's failed to meet that self-expectation then some time to reflect is definitely in order for her - not that she probbably isn't a bit stressed by the past few days anyway.

SHE'S the 'Pirate Killer,' 'Klingon Spooker,' 'Big Trouble in a Little Package,' 'She Who Must be Avoided,' and 'Go Around the Other Side of the Nebula.' I'm the dumb blonde comic relief.
