"I come in peace. No, really."

I've been lurking around the forums for maybe a year now. I -like- Eyrie Productions fiction, and reading discussion threads brings -nearly- as much enjoyment as the stories themselves. I've long suspected this may very well be a sign of mental illness, but between registering as a user and booking myself into an insane asylum...this seemed a better option. Besides, wall-to-wall-to-floor-to-ceiling padded carpeting really isn't my thing.

I'm male. In the electronic medium, it's often difficult to tell. I'm about as mutable as a changeling, in that I don't have (and have never had) a stable 'net alias. 'Acyl' is a recent invention. They're one variant of my fully bilingual initials; being Chinese makes for interesting name variations. 'Acyl's also good for several organic chemistry jokes, if you're into laboratory humour. I also go by Helix, and Helitank-Z, the latter inspired by "Waku Waku 7". If you don't know what that is:- a> it's an old fighting game, and b> you're really missing out.

I'm Singaporean. Specifically, Singaporean Chinese. This pretty much means I can cuss at people in at least three different Chinese dialects, rattle off a couple of profane phrases in Malay, and perform vulgar gestures that are nasty in any language. Though, unfortunately, I understand that there isn't much call for -those- particular talents in polite society. Pity. I'm a student. A student of life, among other things. I dissected a kidney last week. I also study English Literature and Mathematics, but books and scientific calculators don't dissect very well. Come next year, I'll be a soldier in the Singapore Armed Forces, part of my national service term. I question the wisdom of my government, letting me handle real firearms and all that.

I'm an anime fan. Well, I'd -have- to be one, wouldn't I? Many Singaporean youth, like me, are falling under the thrall of Japanese animation. There's something mildly ironic about this, since Japan's annexing our country far better this way than they -ever- did with brute force back in WWII. Started reading EPU fiction because of NXE, and then moved on from there. By this point, I don't really read Eyrie stuff because it's -fanfiction-, I read Eyrie stuff because it's, well, Eyrie stuff. Though I surmise this isn't a unique condition.

I'm also shutting up now. I've rambled enough as is. Game on.
