gryphon I never played Final Fantasy X, but having run across a few artworks of this character, I like to think that in our old MechWarrior tabletop campaign, Melissa Steiner looked like this after she hired our merc company to help her abscond from her arranged wedding and we all had to run the fuck away and hide on the Periphery forever. :)http://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/161677 mephron also very cheerful at missing the arranged marriage. gryphon yeah, turns out Mad Maxing it on the edge of the civilized galaxy beats being the prize in a galactic claw game. I have occasionally toyed with the idea of re-creating that crew and dropping them into the UF universe via the legendary temperamentalness of the Kearney-Fuchida drive, but explaining how the hell they came to be in that configuration would take a decent-size dime-store paperback all by itself. :) --G. -><- Benjamin D. On the other side of the thought, we have evidence that you aren't averse to writing "How the hell they came to be in that configuration" if the muse demands it. "Also a fanatical devotion to the Pope." --- "She's old, she's lame, she's barren too, // "She's not worth feed or hay, // "But I'll give her this," - he blew smoke at me - // "She was something in her day." -- Garnet Rogers, Small Victory FiMFiction.net: we might accept blatant porn involving the cast of My Little Pony but as God is my witness we have standards. LAST EDITED ON Apr-16-18 AT 06:24 PM (EDT) >always knew you had exquisite taste, but choosing Best Girl from the >>game just proves it. Rikku does have that old-school monochrome Fasa >>art vibe goin' on. Her portrait art from the game is >>http://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/318052 (they crop it a bit in-game), >>which only increases that vibe, I think. > >I dunno, I was always partial to Lulu. Rikku might have been the first genki FF character I actually liked. (Of course, before her were Yuffie, Selphie, and Eiko, so not a high bar, sadly. Selphie was the best of the three, but...still.) Lulu is also friggin' awesome, though, even though her backstory felt undeveloped. That said, Rikku is awesome, and since you're not familiar with the source material, Gryphon, I'll leave you with a creepy factoid. Note her eyes in her official portrait. That's not artistic license. ------ Fearless creatures, we all learn to fight the Reaper Can't defeat Her, so instead I'll have to be Her

I won't go into all the detail, but she's part of an oppressed race/subculture called the Al Bhed. Good thing for her most of the people in the world don't know enough to recognize the eyes. I don't actually know if you're interested in JRPG's at all, but if you are there's remasters of FFX out for PS3 and PS4, and I think a PC version. It's well worth playing. (FFX-2 is very...niche...to say the least. Casual JRPG players would not enjoy it.) ------ Fearless creatures, we all learn to fight the Reaper Can't defeat Her, so instead I'll have to be Her |

Really, that's all that needs to be said there :P Matrix Dragon, J. Random Nutter |

Well I for one would happily read a mostly-straight BTech fic about runaway bride Melissa Steiner, even if it ends up with them misjumping and landing in UF. :) There ought to be more BTech stories that muck about with the setting. And certainly more Melissa Steiner stories in general. ("Okay, I admit it: your New Avalon is way cooler than our New Avalon.") -- Mr. Fnord really ought to get back to finishing Candle in the Dark at some point, if only for the Melissa scenes... |
