Given current events WRT the pandemic, I can't help but cringe.

How about this instead?

As Kei would have surely had become at least acquainted with Miss Melnitz, she probably would have felt at least a bit guilty for the poor woman essentially being out of a job.

And so, Kei would write a letter of reccomendation to the one person Janine could go to who could use a half-way decent secretary... or rather, a secretary that could handle his level of batshit.

That person being?
