"FI: Fable of the Reconstruction"
|
LAST EDITED ON May-06-23 AT 07:10 PM (EDT) At the top level of the International Police Organization's Special Assignment branch, the Experts of Justice, it's not entirely unknown for an agent to have a hard day at the office that leaves behind unanticipated consequences. Someone forgot to tell Geoff Depew it wasn't a competition. UF/FI: Fable of the Reconstruction -- Jen Dantes - Darth Mephron Haberdasher to Androids, Dark Lady of Sith Tech Support. "And Remember! >Glad to see it wasn't *wiggle hands suggestively* exploitation, but >thought out story of bringing fiction in accordance with realty. >Also, good story. This has been percolating in one bit or another for the better part of a year. On the other hand, can I write a story exploiting myself? -- Jen Dantes - Darth Mephron Haberdasher to Androids, Dark Lady of Sith Tech Support. "And Remember! Google is your Friend!!" probably, but it would be co-written with Traitor and published on AO3 with a number of content warnings. |

>>Just realised, this means that Jen was actually a member of the 'Girls >>with Logan as unlikely father figure/mentor' club all along! > >Yeah, Jubilee's getting her medallion struck, but she refuses to >backdate the certificate. It's the principle of the thing. Well, there's a lot of debate in situations like this. Do you use the date Logan became her mentor, the date of the gunshot, when she woke up, the date she just stopped and went 'oh. OH!', the list goes on... Matrix Dragon, J. Random Nutter |

... for some reason that I've been unable to pin down, I'm getting the strangest (and strongest) sense of deja vu here. Like, to the point where I was searching the forum for this story, because I swear I've read it before. But no, it looks like this is the first time it's shown up, the timestamps don't have the weirdness I've come to associate with zombie threads that got suddenly edit-resurrected... nothing except my admittedly-fallible memory is saying this is old rather than new. But! All that said, glad to see Jen making her debut. Kinda looking forward to her teaming up with Sister Destiny, just because I liked their dynamic before and I suspect I'd like it even more now. --sofaspud --... arrgh, brain, no, why, sisters of battle noooo staahp |

>Someone oughta tell that girl to keep her sprocking head down. :D BJ did in this one! He doesn’t want to see her in for at least a year. …well, for trauma. A traditional benediction from my people is in order.
Great story, enjoyed it a lot. Heartwarming to see how many people turn up when G.D. is incapacitated - she's really come a long way from the solitary serial murderer days! A couple of typos and such, but they don't detract much from the effect. Once again, grats on the Gender to both writer and character. -- With great power come great perks. |

>>I told Jen when she was writing it that the first scene reminded me of >>something I remember a character saying to Batman once, although the >>details of who and in exactly what context have escaped me--something >>to the effect of, "For someone who thinks he stands alone, you have a >>huge family." :) > >I think that was Sarah-Jane to the Tenth Doctor, actually, but yeah, >the same definitely applies to Bats. >And so, in the NEXT story, Jen uses the Zip .22™, then? What with >that particular story never materializing, I mean? Her reconstructed hand could probably use it, if only to see how many bullets she could flatten against body armor in a period of time. >I am of course joking(though, it would be hilarious to actually see >that one at some point), and just wanted to say that the story was >quite lovely, in all sorts of ways. >>Came across this one recently, and it's going to be used when someone >>from Big Fire thinks "Well, Hellbringer's going to be easier to deal >>with now..." > >This is like wandering up and announcing, "Hello, my name is No >Survival Instincts, and I'll be your live fire target practice >tonight." Judging from their usual quality of judgment, I'm guessing >Galactor? They do their research in the same journals as Dr. Dinosaur: Robo blinked. "You cloned Mr. Tesla?! What the hell for?""I did far better than simply clone him," Dr. Dinosaur replied stuffily. "I improved on the original! My version is one of your mammal females - " "Technically I'm not a mammal, I'm a robot." " - which my research indicates are more suggestible than the males - " "Pff. Where do you do your 'research'? It doesn't even say that on Galactipedia any more." " - and I will raise her as my disciple," Dr. Dinosaur went doggedly on, ignoring all of Robo's interruptions. --G. -><- Benjamin D.
