"FI: Fable of the Reconstruction"

(perhaps a bit surprisingly) Keiichi Morisato – The reason for the bad weather is Belldandy sensing what happened and becoming upset.

It was pretty rare for Hydra to operate that openly in New Avalon – it’s not mentioned in the story, but the entire point for this was to draw out an Expert and test the immortal-killer bullet. It wasn’t even a real kidnapping.

RD-996 – mentioned in Aegis Floria Part 1. As you might expect, the Dr. Kohran mentioned is Li Kohran of the Imperial Flower Brigade.

She says he can’t die until she gives him the punch in the mouth she’d owed him since their first meeting. – This is a running joke between the two of them, and she’s upset enough that she’s using it as a wish for survival.

"Following a full and frank exchange of views between myself and the Chief Justice," – This was not under the WDF Code, so no one died.

Geoff Depew did something he hadn’t expected to do – this was a very fraught set of written transitions (ahem) to do. It starts with “he” and slowly moves through “they” (whih is being used as the first person undefined gender) and finally though things to “she” as her mind adjusts. I’m still not sure I got it perfect, but I did my best.

Curt Connors – the Lizard, ladies and gentlemen! It’s okay. He’s much better now.

Arnim Zola - and yes, that one. He probably enjoyed the idea of making something like that just to see if he could, there’s almost certainly now more out there and Konoko is trying hard not to think about what it implies about her.

Shrublands – It’s a lovely facility, as long as no one from SPECTRE is also there…

a small hinged box – it’s from Belldandy, with a new rune necklace for her.

a bag of gummy Coke bottles – what, they’re good!

and a letter – a note from Warren Worthington saying “heard you’ve had a strange couple of weeks, hope you’re doing well!”

Brother Neo, Brother Ghost, and Gryphon stepped into the room and arranged themselves – that’s just mean.

I don’t really want to see you in here for a while. It’s like once a year, we have to put you back together and I don’t know how long we can keep doing this before declaring you a class Humpty-Dumpty and not being able to do it. – I feel this was deserved.

"You’re blushing, you know." "I am NOT." "You ARE." – She was.

At 3 AM, the garage door swung open – Jen did not know what to look for and not to look for, and now we know that the Daodan does not deal with low levels of MDMA or ecstacy.

Jen Dantes crouched on the roof – originally, I was going to end with the “I’m going to be fine”, but it seemed a little anticlimactic for me. Gryph suggested something with her thinking “Back in business”, and having a SA139 action being part of it came to me. I think it works out well, showing her adaptation to her situation, and that she’s embracing it.

I originally had this as a mini, but it got bigger as I wanted to explore some more. It needed it.

No, nothing like that actually. A lot of the raves are run by a group of Funkotroni expats. Jen just didn’t know what to look for in the gummys.

(The Funkotroni have serious security to seal with that kind of person at the raves they throw, and many of them are off-duty NAPD, specifically to deal with them properly.)

Lost track of the color code. It happens, especially with the lighting they usually have at these things. They really need to start coding them by shape instead.

One of Laura Kinney's favorite sports during her wilderness years was disappointing those people.

It was smooth enough I didn't notice until I got to this very familiar experience:

"Geoff put his – her – head back on the pillow."

at which point I walked my eyes backwards and saw it.

So if not perfect, very close to it.

This strikes me as a rather... RNG-heavy, shall we say... test plan. Aren't a lot of experts more in the super-durability line than the super-regen?

(I also have this mental image of Gojira just eating the bullet, and then critiquing the flavor. But upon further consideration I might be getting my wires crossed with a different story.)

>"Following a full and frank exchange of views between myself and

When I read the story I found myself wondering, has this been an ongoing source of difficulty? I don't remember anything about them even looking for documentation on the Daodan before, but it could be I'm forgetting something. (I already know I'd forgotten that the original CSI:NA story established that Big Fire had stolen it from the Zardons in the first place.)

>Curt Connors – the Lizard, ladies and gentlemen! It’s okay.
>He’s much better now.

Huh. Has he shown up in UF before?

And since this seems like as good a place to ask as any... is it appropriate/acceptable to still use the old name when referring to the older stories?

Context: I'm writing a SI fanfic whose lead has my memories up to a vague point somewhere between... call it December 2019 and July 2022, and in a future chapter something would come up. And it specifically involves getting two names mixed up in her head, or I'd probably just use the new one despite the maybe-semi-anachronism. It wouldn't be a huge deal to rework it, but... well, I thought I should ask.

It might be, but if I was going to try a plan like that, I'd at least like a past record of various EoJ responses.

"Hmm. If we hit a bank in the Claremont district at night, we're more likely to get one of the Titans or the Bats. But a fake kidnapping here...that has a 68% chance of drawing out Hellbringer, Gryphon, or another Detian."

"68%? Is that the best we've got?"

"Without risking another team on a bait op to draw attention, yeah."

Punch line: They didn't even take into account the 15-percent chance that they'd get the Stig.

Yes, but they figured it might be a good test on them, too. I mean, why not give it the best possible range of tests?

The Zardon Justice Department does not like admitting to possible mistakes, like when a secret black project allows their pet biotechnology to be stolen by Big Fire infiltrators, especially to outsiders who should technically not know about it even if they are an allied law enforcement agency. As said in that first CSI story, "The Justice Department is a harsh mistress."

No, but classically he's been a Spider-Man villain, and I gave a nod to that in the comment he's worked the less than legal side of the biotech scene.

I told Gryph he wouldn't need to go back and make changes on my previous credits, so I think that would be acceptable. If you could bounce me a link in a private message on release, I'd like to read it.

It was actually part 2. And the chemical used was RD-775, but that can be explained by technological advancement of the Red Death formula.
