"CoH: Snapshots from a Wild Weekend"

Dude. Nemesis has a mole drill. How awesome is that? Alpha Cygnus, Glacial Action, Tuncer, Captain Photon, Rotini Barilla, and Chillzanne think it's pretty goddamn awesome.

You tell me what the hell is even going on here. I no longer find the Rikti invasion "events" as utterly repugnant as I did when they debuted - under the right circumstances they can even be a kind of fun - but they're for damn sure... confusing.

The Torch of Victory sat several of them out before conceding that if she was going to get anything done, she couldn't just hang around in the police station all day.

She did find time to save this nice fortune teller from the Circle of Thorns in between alien gank squads, though.

Well, now I have several heroes that want a higher security rating just to check out the MOLE DRILL.

I've only run into two of them, and haven't needed to avoid them yet. As near as Knight of the Peace can tell, it seems like the Riktis entire invasion plan is to Zerg rush and start a massive brawl.

Isn't that the default plan B for any alien invasion in any superhero universe?

Well, they must be awfully disconcerted by the utter failure of their fearsome aerial bombing campaign to do any damage whatsoever. I know I would be.

"So, you flew over the streets and stuck bombs in the roads?"
"Yep, and half of them didn't blow up. Then the heroes shot them a lot."
"Which means... we blew up nothing."
"There's not even any potholes in the road."
"Shit... well, let's just charge all the heroes standing near Blue Steel and see what happens."

"Bombardment: Ineffectual."

"Required: New explosives technicians."

"Meanwhile: Suggested: Frontal assault."

"Expression: Astonishment! Heroes: Complete idiots! Standing near: Drones!"

In this case, "in front of" means "down the steps and in the street, where the pol-drones probably won't steal any kills."

Heh, not with the pack of clowns that were in Kings Row last night, it doesn't.

And they laughed at the mayor when he had the entire city shrink-wrapped! They called him crazy! WHO'S LAUGHING NOW, HUH?!

(I suspect this wasn't what you had in mind when you said "MOLE DRILL", but the song was on my playlist at the time...)

Sung to Fun, Fun, Fun by the Beach Boys

Well she got the big MOLE DRILL
And she cruised to Galaxy City now
Seems she forgot all about the Rogue Isles
Like she told the Statesman now
And with the defender blasting
Goes drilling just as fast as she can now

And she'll have fun fun fun
Till the Statesman takes her MOLE DRILL away
And she'll have fun fun fun
Till the Statesman takes her MOLE DRILL away

Well the Trolls can't stand it
Coz she walks talks and drills like an ace now
She makes the Hollows tunnel zone look like
A really small gopher hole now
A lotta Trolls try and catch her
But she leads them on a wild goose chase now

And she'll have fun fun fun
Till the Statesman takes her MOLE DRILL away
And she'll have fun fun fun
Till the Statesman takes her MOLE DRILL away

Well you knew all along
That ol' States was gettin' wise to you now
And since he took your set of keys
You've been thinking that your fun is all through now
But you can party up with me
Cos we got a lot of doors to do now

And we'll have fun fun fun
Now that Statesman took the MOLE DRILL away
We'll have fun fun fun
Now that Statesman took the MOLE DRILL away
