"Triptych: The Lives of Jen Rossum"

LAST EDITED ON Oct-04-08 AT 06:13 PM (EDT)

"Before I Kill You, Captain Photon... "
Artwork by Phil Moy

Captain Photon, relatively early in his career, contends with a deathtrap set up by his arch-nemesis, the notorious Gen. Rossum. Actually, it's not much of a deathtrap - what kind of girl do you take her for? - but "moderateinconveniencetrap" doesn't look as good on a villain résumé.

Take My Hand
Artwork by Denise Jones

It was only a matter of time before someone in Arachnos realized that Gen. Rossum was just biding her time until an opportunity presented itself to escape their vile clutches. When they did, they set her up to take the fatal kind of fall - but they didn't count on Captain Photon's capacity for mercy.

Answering the Bell
Artwork by Jeff Moy

Not every hero would team up with his former archenemy on a more or less permanent basis. Fortunately for the newly minted Torch of Victory, Captain Photon isn't every hero. He has one strict rule, though: Now that she's no longer a general, Jen doesn't outrank him any more.

I remember when you guys shared the black and white originals. They were cool then and are even cooler now. Props, as always to Phil's coloring skills with Photoshop!

Looking at this triptych, is there still any reason why Jen's timeline must still be bifurcated/fragmented? from the looks of things, both halves made it out from the rogue isles to take up a life of hero-ing. :D

Until and unless I can actually move the Mastermind version to blueside with souvenirs and whatnot intact, that won't be the case.

Word has it that plans are in fact in place to make this possible. Probably somewhere around issue 14 or 15.

Personally, I don't trust what "word has". Unless there's a redname post stating definitely that yes, they are working on it, I'm not gonna believe it's coming. And the way they're extremely careful not to mention any future feature that isn't 100% set in stone, we could wait for quite a while.

Also, the ability to switch from Villain to Hero has been rumored since before the launch of City of Villains, so I'm not holding my breath. In the words of Statesman, it'll be available "Soon." :)

Also also, Positron specifically said they weren't going to do it a few weeks thereafter.

It's been done. You can side-switch now.

(I honestly figure you probably already know, but if not, well, here you go.)

i'm really not likely to start playing city of heros....i already play one morpg...and one blackhole of a timesuck at a time is enough....but the stories you put up about it are really nifty. and my hat off to the artist...especially te second image...the look on captain proton's face is...really poignant and heroic. and truly for sure it takes real heroism to reach out to an enemy with compassion.....hmmm....more politicians should be reading comic books...

You could consider buying a fixer upper house. That's an even better sinkhole for time and energy... and money.

   I know that feeling.

My family's house is about the same age. Every once in a while we renovate another room, luckily my dad is a licenced electrician. A lot of old 'knob and tube' wiring and other stuff that hasn't been used since WWII or earlier. *shudder* Not to mention the various home wiring jobs done by my grandfather and uncles several decades back (and they were NOT qualified electricians).

Sometimes I wonder how the house hasn't burned down yet. 8P

Oh, yeah, I can sympathize. I got my house late in March. Since then I've had to break one way-overloaded circuit into three, rewire (most of) the living room with grounded outlets, replaced the drop ceiling in the finished basement, repainted the most of the first floor, and torn out a rotting, grungy bar. I am presently finishing up repainting the finished basement and replacing the hole left by the bar (previous occupants didn't put up any wallboard where the bar met the wall). Next up is new trim for living room and dining room, hopefully before my new lady friend sees it.
