I scrounged up some 7.5mm French Long ammo and took this gun to the range today. It went fine for the first magazine, but midway through the second I had the strangest malfunction I think I've ever seen. The trigger wouldn't reset, the slide didn't quite want to close, and I couldn't get the magazine out, but I could pull the slide back with ease, so it wasn't jammed up on a misfeed or something. After puzzling over it for a minute or two, I noticed that the slide felt loose when I pulled it back, and taking a closer look, I discovered that the takedown pin had just... fallen out. It was lying on the little counter/table of my range station.

So that's... a problem. I'll have to investigate and see if the pin is worn to the point where it works loose, or something else is going on. I have no idea where I could even get parts for this nowadays.

My target still had some life in it, so I went out and perused the rental rack. Realizing that I had never in my life handled a Desert Eagle, I bought seven rounds of .50 Action Express at $2 each (ouch!) and had a go. It was... interesting. The recoil doesn't really feel all that bad in the hand, but the muzzle flip is epic. Scott Ballistics I ain't.
