"A uniformed question"

I was working on the uniforms for my Discovery-era crew on STO recently and while I was working on it, a totally random question entered my mind and that was how did the uniforms look throughout the history of the established UF factions?

Such as when Master Caine took over Genom, did they go from the Galactic Empire looking uniforms to the ones of the First Order for an example?

Also, did the United Galactica Starfleet adopt the uniforms first shown in Discovery before the ones seen in Wrath of Khan forward of the TOS movies?

I apologize if this question is a bit on the board side of questions, everyone, but the kinds of questions that hits your head while playing STO at 2 in the AM right?

Eleventh Doctor: I never forget a face.

The Curator: I know you don't. And in years to come you might find yourself revisiting a few, but just the old favorites.

Hmm. Interesting question! I don't know/haven't decided about all of them for all of time, but I have had ideas from time to time about a few of them.

No, as far as I know, GENOM MILARM's uniform standards have stayed the same for its entire history. White Legion troopers still look like OG Stormtroopers, and the various non-armored uniforms still look like their Imperial Navy equivalents.

I haven't seen the sequel trilogy, so I only know what their gear looks like from sort of cultural osmosis. I did toy with the idea of doing something with the clone armor from the prequels/Clone Wars, but I don't think I ever followed through, except for some of their equipment (the DC-17 blaster, for instance).

Rebel-style flight gear has also turned up in UF, but on civilian pilots, who probably picked it up as milsurp gear from some smaller force somewhere.

I don't know offhand what the UG Navy's uniforms looked like. When the outfit became the Federation Starfleet, they adopted the TOS-era uniform, spent some time circa 2390 in the bootie PJs uniforms from Star Trek: The Motion Picture, and sometime later went from that to the two-piece version of the TNG uniform (circa season 3, when they changed from jumpsuits to jacket-and-pants combos but kept the same basic color scheme).

The Wrath of Khan-era uniform does exist in the UF universe, but Starfleet never had it there--it's used by the IP Space Force as a dress uniform. IPSF duty uniforms are also based on a design from Star Trek, namely the Starfleet uniform circa First Contact. International Police tactical and technical operatives resemble Star Trek: Enterprise-era Starfleet personnel, but their blue jumpsuit is more closely based on the one worn by Interpol support agents in Giant Robo.

As far as I know, I've never used the Discovery-era uniform in anything.. I hadn't watched any of that show until fairly recently, so I only knew it from STO, and it doesn't really look all that distinctive to my eye. It's just a slightly more elaborate iteration of the Enterprise-era boiler suit, which I'm guessing was probably on purpose.
