"RIP Jason Damron aka The Storyteller"

So I thought about putting this in the Games category, but figured it was appropriate down here due to the topic. If you're scratching your head about who Jason was or why he was "The Storyteller," he was a semi-famous character in the Fallout community as the narrator of a series of lore videos on the Shoddycast YT channel. Starting in 2014 and continuing for three years, he starred in nearly 80 videos talking about various subjects of franchise lore or (in later videos) took part in his own stories that went from the Mojave to the Capital Wasteland before ending in the Commonwealth. If you're curious about checking out the videos, there's both a playlist over at Shoddycast or a (very long) compilation video that they recently posted that starts with kind words from the cast and crew in Jason's honor.

I admit I haven't watched or thought about the series in so long that the news about Jason's death from stage 4 adrenal cancer* came as a total shock. And when you listen to those who worked with him, there is very much a "I didn't even know he was sick" vibe to their reactions. The overall feeling is like learning your high school class' valedictorian died and listening to all the people who knew him talking about how awesome a guy he was. He was larger than life, touched the lives of all those around him, and yet few outside those who knew him and his work will remark on his passing. RIP Jason, your story is over, but your memory will live on.

*It goes without saying, but FUCK CANCER!
