Since we're waiting for Hunted Rose, I thought we might like to play a simple game: State an event you expect to happen in Hunted Rose, and your evaluation of the event's probability. For example: VERY Unlikely: Ranma challenges Utena to a duel. Or, if you prefer, numerically: 1 in 100,000: A giant flaming head appears to rain fire down on WPI. Those making correct predictions will win a nontransferable, no expenses paid trip for one to wherever it is they currently are! Thanks Luc "NoPrize(TM)" French |

Likely: Utena give Ohtori what he deserves Somewhat Likely: Someone else gives Ohtori what he deserves Somewhat Unlikely: AoN does "Konya Wa Hurricane"Brad, who hears the OAV Priss' voice in his head when he reads the parts where Kate Sings. |

>Likely: Utena give Ohtori what he deserves >Somewhat Likely: Someone else gives Ohtori what he deserves I honestly doubt anyone has the metaphysical equivalent of size of the boot that Ohtori Akio deserves to have his ass kicked with other than Tenjou Utena. Unless.... hm. It just occurs to me now that it's possible that Utena alone cannot beat him. But with the support of what is now an ENTIRE Ohtori Academy Student Council, it's possible that the metaphysical force she can bring to bear for this may give her what she needs to defeat him. In other words, what she's done right now is the equivalent of Zoner, except she's even more incapable of comprehending it from her own POV. She's arranged to have the entire Council - and mystically, having a completed circle like that has significant importance - not just opposing Akio, but SUPPORTING her. Sure, it's not QUITE perfect - Wakaba's not in the same circle as Miki, Juri and Saionji - but at the same time, it does complete the circle. Interesting thought. I'm sure it's wrong, but. -- Geoff Depew - Mephron Haberdasher to Androids, Malakite of Lightning and Angel of Tech Support Professionals (They won't give me LARTs, they say that's restricted to Michael.) -- Jen Dantes - Darth Mephron Haberdasher to Androids, Dark Lady of Sith Tech Support. Not terribly likely: Touga sees the picture of Sainoji and Utena in bed and doesn't move for three days as he tries to figre out how Saionji got THAT close to Utena. Even less probable: Corwin kicks Akio's ass in a Rose Duel drakensisthered

Heh. >Even less probable: Corwin kicks Akio's ass in a Rose Duel This is only unlikely because the term "Rose Duel" implies that both participants will survive the festivities. I'm not quite sure whether or not Corwin could bring himself to kill someone, but if yes he'd definitely target Akio. Unless of course I'm wrong and we won't be ending up in the Tenth World eventually. Blessed be. (Well, one of the reasons.) For instance, my personal response to Akio Ohtori would be to blow the bastard away... preferably with a Barrett Light-Fifty from 800 meters. (I'm assuming, never having seen the anime, that it wouldn't be possible to simply throw him in jail.) And while that's good tactics, it doesn't fit with what I percieve to be the style of the story. Granted, as future captain of the Valkyrie, he should be quite skilled, and in Duelists of the Rose, it was said that he had been trained "pretty extensively." Still, given all the people he keeps company with (e.g., the Duelists, Gryph, etc.), how does he stack up? Still, given all the people he keeps company >with (e.g., the Duelists, Gryph, etc.), how does he stack up? Corwin has had training with all the common weapons of Asgard - dueling sword, greatsword, hammer, spear, 35mm Hellbore, war-axe, bat'telh, discorporation lash, blaster rifle, katar, portable linear accelerator, heavy crossbow, etc., and by mortal standards can probably be considered proficient or better with all of them. He's not large enough to wield some of them (e.g. greatsword, bat'telh) effectively yet, but he knows what to do. Each Valkyrie has a weapon specialization, one weapon with which she is more skilled than any other in their corps, possibly any other in Asgard. These specializations often show up in their names - Brunnhilde Silverspear, Gudrun Truemace, Vigdis Brightblade. Corwin has been trained by each extant Valkyrie in the use of her favored weapon, so he's learned from some of the best around. Just how proficient he is compared to those in his sister's peer group isn't really known, as he hasn't had an opportunity to fight any of them since we've met him. His own specialty is the draconic warstaff, a weapon brought to Asgard by the dragons of Alfheim and often wielded by them when they walk the lands in the shape of men. But, again, how good he is with it hasn't been established yet, and if I established it here, we'd all miss out on the fun of seeing it established in the flow of a story later. --G. -><- Benjamin D. I thought that was an instruction, rather then a Free Tip (value: the same as the prize I'm offering if you guess correctly). If you don't mind doing me two favors, would you please try to phrase things a bit more carefully so you don't appear to be making official rulings, and try and preview before you post? You don't have to do either, but both will save everyone involved a large amount of grief. Thanks Luc "Logically illogical" French |
