"World of Warships Patch 0.5.0.1"
|
Patch notes here. They've tinkered around with the matchmaking to make it more like World of Tanks (basically, the way I thought it worked anyway in that other thread) and made a few small adjustments to various ships (e.g., they buffed the AA on the Soviet Aurora-class premium a bit). They've also added World of Tanks-style hotkey chat messages (thanks, yes, no, help!, etc.) - most of it seems to be the kind of fit-and-polish stuff that was probably at the top of the "to do once beta is over" list. I haven't finished downloading the patch, so haven't been able to log in and find out whether those of us who bought the now-deleted intermediate hull upgrade for our Tier I ships have received anything in exchange for its removal. --G. -><- Benjamin D. LAST EDITED ON Sep-29-15 AT 07:20 PM (EDT) Won't happen, WG NEVER makes "free" premium vehicles as good or better than their normal equivalent.Thier reasoning behind it is "This ship/tank was given out for "x" event/reason and not everyone will have it." So to keep people from complaining they can't get one, they make them crappier than they really should be. The actual "Arkansas Beta" was a converted BB used to train AA crews, and thus had an insane amount of AA defense, yet in game it literally has NO Anti-Air ability. Not even a guy firing a pistol. WG "balance" and "history" at work folks. See Comment. |

Not even a guy firing a pistol. So the in-game version is pre-conversion. That... doesn't exactly constitute a sinister conspiracy on the developers' part. The stock Wyoming class (vintage 1910, long before anyone started taking aircraft seriously as a weapons system) was not famous for its AA capabilities. Interestingly, Arkansas (BB-33) was sunk as part of Operation CROSSROADS, same as the Japanese battleship Nagato and German cruiser Prinz Eugen. Once the Admiral Hipper class is in-game, that would make a pretty poignant division - although it would also be a fail division, given that Arkansas Beta is Tier IV and Nagato is Tier VII. (No idea what tier Admiral Hipper will be in, but I'm guessing higher than IV, given that they were much more advanced ships than pre-WWI battleships. :) --G. -><- Benjamin D.
