>I enjoyed his concert yesterday (10/31), especially closing on Danse >Macabre (long one of my favorite spooky-ish classical pieces, although >La Ronde des Lutins is still first place). Fun fact: that's the third version of Danse Macabre the Scott Brothers have recorded! They've also done a four-hands piano duet and a harmonium/piano duet (the latter of which is BGM for the fight scene in TTW Act V). >It did make me wonder what Remilia would think of it, especially such >an organ arrangement of it. Given the relative 'recentness' of its >composition (1874, according to wikipedia) given the GG timeline >(assuming Saint-Saëns is the same across universes, to even begin >with). Of course, I semi-doubt if she's even familiar with the >orchestral/original version, given that she's been largely a shut-in >since...well before then. Mm, she will have just missed it, because Sakuya disappeared in 1870. Before then, she was in the habit of occasionally venturing out to pick up various things, including new music and musical supplies (such as the accordion she bought in Paris in the 1830s), so she might have brought home a copy if it had been available. Afterward, Remilia never went out and stopped using the music room. As such, she's never heard it, but it's one of G's favorite classical (well, technically Romantic) pieces, so she's certain to be exposed to it sooner or later, and I expect she'll enjoy it. It has a lot of dark whimsy about it, and in certain of her moods, Remilia Scarlet is all about dark whimsy. :) --G. -><- Benjamin D. I hadn't realized the timeline was that close -- I guess I mentally misplaced exactly when Sakuya disappeared (and, thus, Remilia actually stopped going out) >As such, she's never heard it, but it's one of G's favorite classical >(well, technically Romantic) pieces, so she's certain to be exposed to >it sooner or later, and I expect she'll enjoy it. >I hadn't realized the timeline was that close -- I guess I mentally >misplaced exactly when Sakuya disappeared (and, thus, Remilia actually >stopped going out) Remilia herself rarely, if ever, left the house after the 10th of Flor&3acute;al, partly because she didn't dare in case Flandre acted up (since she was the only person left in the house who even had a prayer of controlling her), but mostly because she wanted nothing further to do with the outside world and its revolutionary fanatics. It was always Sakuya who ventured out, in an effort to bring back at least a few things that might brighten life in the ruins a bit (and keep at least vaguely current about what was going on). Still, that meant that when Sakuya disappeared, Remilia lost virtually all of what little contact with the outside remained. Not that she ever really noticed, or would acknowledge, that she missed it before G came along. --G. -><- Benjamin D. She's seen it before, and the only other person in the mansion who isn't a time traveler is Flandre, who has the fantastic mental flexibility of the recently-mad to help her handle it. And if he doesn't want to play directly from the tool, he could certainly use it to fabricate records for the player. I know he seems to be viewing 1946 as sort of a "challenge run", where he doesn't use any anachronistic tech unless absolutely necessary, but surely there's some part of him who wants to fill the Scarlet Mansion with the sounds of his daughter's band rocking out. |

That's a wonderfully funny mental image you just gave me. A pity Lena wasn't able to accelerate healing on her leg, she would probably have wanted to show off more modern dance moves to go with the music. Come to think of it, are Glen Miller and similar bands still A Thing in this timeline? There ought to be a record shop in Colmar that could be visited for the next supply run. -- Unable to save the day: File is read-only. |
