If you can drop the inherent assumption that the women are attempting to charm the sole man because, "OMG MAN!" then it works just fine. As Gryph notes, there's an anime-trope about this one.

But contrary to popular belief, the Bechdel Test is the *low* bar, and women do talk about things other than men in a professional or personal setting. For example - if you put a bunch of female programmers in a room and have a guy stand up in front of them and say, "There is a memory leak in this program and I cannot for the life of me figure out where it is..." they will not immediately start talking about how the guy who wrote the program is hot/not hot/whatever. They will start trying to figure out where the leak is.

Though once they spot the problem, they might start talking about how the guy is blind. (Or possibly how he's not blind, because damn wasn't that a nasty, subtle bug.)

Context matters. And in this case, UF Gryph was there in a professional context.
