5. "RE: Music Cues in UF"
In response to message #3

>>OK, I've got that one. Not the full one, judging from the time stamps >>used in the stories (unless I can't do math), but a 1:53 version. The >>time stamps indicate 2:44, but I assume that's based on the scene as >>presented, which may use a "stretched" version of the piece. > >Yeah, the track at Mason Daring's website is probably some kind of >sample version - you can hear how it fades out mid-phrase. The >broadcast version went on for the full length of the scene, and that's >what I was basing the cue in Clarion Call on; I only found out >afterward, during the post-release discussion of the story, that the >website version was out there. For everyone who has been wondering why we've been nattering on about this piece of music, I found something interesting on YouTube this frozen Saturday morning. This link is to an isolated music version of the final scene of "Spider." All dialogue and sound effects have been removed, what's left is nearly 5 minutes of Mason Daring's "Spider/Eagle". Enjoy!
I also found another Mason Daring track titled "Camera Moon", from episode 7, "That's All There Is," which told the story of Apollo 12 - a low point of which was when the astronauts broke the camera (the first color camera to be used) just as the moon walk started, causing there to be little-to-no video of that part of the mission. And if anyone wants to try searching the music out, I found a possibly helpful website called Flying Dreams. This page is a mini-episode guide that pays attention to the musical score, including listing who wrote it. Jeanne |
