Actually, looking at http://www.globalwarmingart.com/wiki/Special:SeaLevel , and zooming in on DC proper, it'd only really start getting to be at risk once it got past the 20 meter rise. Sure, the landfill and river edges would be the first to go (which would do a number on the Monuments and Museums unless they were rapidly moved), but a good chunk of the suburbs North and West of the Potomac/Anacostia juncture would still be above water for a good while, and a good portion of the federal government would just shift outwards. Heck, technically it'd still be maintaining the "situated on the Potomac" specification from back during the Compromise of 1790! (yes, both states would probably be pissy about having their major suburbs being annexed like that, but they're effectively part of the DC/Baltimore Metroplex ANYWAY, so it's not like it'd be much of a difference in actual living and work conditions.) --- Philip
