LAST EDITED ON Feb-13-07 AT 10:24 PM (EST) I'd pay to see that. He's bound to be more entertaining than Matthew Broderick.Michael Clarke Duncan gets another role because he's the only person in Hollywood big enough. Not that he's a bad actor though. Polychrome |

LAST EDITED ON Feb-13-07 AT 11:43 PM (EST) >>To be fair, all white casts went out in the late 1960's/early '70's. > >Apparently we actual early-'90s wedge rats didn't get the memo. We >had the one black guy and the one Asian guy, and neither one was a >central player in UF, so... Well see, that's why they had to go and fix things for you. Marketing is important. You can't rake in the green without proper marketing. I imagine Zoner was somewhat amused by this casting choice. Polychrome Edit: square brackets |

That for modern, enlightened Hollywood. (snaps fingers in contemptuous derision). We've got as much Diversity (said in the proper, solemn tone) as you could want with the SotS crew: * We've got your European/American-type girl (Kate, half-American, half-German, or at least German-colonial): * We've got your Norse demigod, later full-fledged god (Corwin): * We've got your refugees/emigrants from not just another country, or another planet, but another dimension entirely (Utena, Miki, Juri, Wakaba, Saionji and later on Anthy, who herself adds yet another ingredient to the stew by being half-svartelven, and Shiori): * We've got your African-American (presumably, nobody ever said what his ancestry was - for all I know his forebears might have come from Nairobi) (Moose) * We've got your (marsupialoid?) alien girl (Azalynn): * We've got your blue-skinned alien girl with a disability (Amanda, with the eye she lost in that assassination attempt): * We've got your British telepath (Devlin): * We've got your pteranodon-like, gas-flame-blue Barsavian t'skrang (Sky): * (After she shapes up and squares away) We've got your rich blonde beauty (Liza): * and last but not least, we've got your half-Minbari, half-human (Mia). Apologies to Juni, Mac, G'Kron, and anyone else I've left out... -Joe- |

>Why DO the Alpha's missiles spiral? Trying to give enemy ECM a >psychotic episode? I believe the official explanation for why anime missiles do that is that it's an attempt to confound enemy point defense systems. Plus, it looks bitchin'. --G. -><- Benjamin D. >21:00 [Science] Mythbusters >Aerospace Myths - Can an F-8Z Super Crusader fly with its wings folded?I've seen pictures of one of the real F-8s that did a cat launch, flew round the circuit, and came in for a normal arrestor landing on the carrier... all with its wings folded. (Yes, "one of" — it happened more than once.) Once again, I really wish I could find a channel on my TV that would let me watch some of these programmes... ;) -- Unable to save the day: File is read-only. |

LAST EDITED ON Feb-15-07 AT 11:42 AM (EST) >Why settle for TV? If I could have my way, I'd be in New Avalon right >now, applying to join up with the IPO rather than the USN. Not that >I'm knocking off the Navy, but you gatta ask yourself, which is >inherently cooler? Since we're stuck in the Real World (TM), I'd have to say the Air Force. Their airfields don't sink. Plus, it is the only branch of the military where then Enlisted men send the Officers off to die! :) Michael

though to offer a sobering thought, the old "we send the O's off to fight" thing ain't all it used to be - I got a couple my enlisted guy and girls out on the ground in the AOR right now, running convoys, intel, TCN, PRT, doing all sorts of work...ain't any pilots in sight...and I'm looking at deploying later this year myself or early next year...I'm due, right after I knock out a few more training courses... We all do, at one time or >another, to greater or lesser extends depending on just what it is >that we like in this great canvas that is UF... Funnily enough... We're getting repeats of Mythbusters over here on this side of the pond, Monday evenings on BBC2. Last night we got the one with the airliner toilet seat. I can now grok in fullness the "stunt butt" gag towards the end of The Revolution Will Be Televised... and I hope to stop laughing in a few more days. :) (A pity I'm in an area that can't (yet) get Channel 5, so I can see for myself what CSI: New Avalon would look like. Right now I'm "seeing" it like a radio play.) -- Unable to save the day: File is read-only. |
