Winifreda! I freakin' called it!

Also yeah that was pretty much the only way the fight between Reimu and Marisa could have ended, huh? This entire episode was just full of so many feels.

Congratulations, you've won me over to this ship as well now too Gryphon.

EDIT: Also I gotta admit when Yukari showed up I held my breath but thank goodness, it all worked out well.

Well called! Was...not honestly expecting that, nor Flandre being able to speak to Winifreda, but in hindsight it makes sense! The piece of embedded Neuroi in Captain Eugenie to do so, and Flandre had a...well not -similar- experience but it looks like a not-dissimilar result! Most interesting...

The Marisa and Reimu pairing is pretty darn cute, and the conclusion of that whole situation was -very- nicely done.

And hurray for Minna and Mio officially married! Excellent episode all around!

So you wanted to release this episode to resolve the cliffhanger at the end of episode 25 and then drop an EVEN BIGGER cliffhanger?

That's not a cliffhanger... Gryphon went all Flat-Earth on us and threw us over the edge! :P

Seriously, that was a fun ride, and really sweet, and it really makes me look forward to what's going to happen next.

Offsides

P.S. I've been rereading some of the earlier OWaW volumes and since my memory is crap these days, was there ever a "full" episode of what happened the first time UF-G ended up in the OWaW universe, or is it just the vignette at the beginning of "New Tricks"?

It's just the vignette in "New Tricks" and a few mentioned-but-not-expanded-on stories within OWaW itself.

Yes. The annotation for Episode 13 already covered that. However, I suspect that "our mutual close personal friends" refers to a duo that should be polishing iron bars with their eyelashes, and was last seen in Monaco.

   Small theory:-

Flan and Meiling are seen on a motorbike, and coming from the direction of We Have Switzerland At Home. Now, a while back, I had my own dipshit theory about what those two had been getting up to. This was, as is common to my theories, based on nothing more than "Hey, the weird British trans woman not even a global plague can successfully get rid of thinks this is neat". It was also based on The Great Escape, which (as any fule kno) is one of the greatest prisoner-of-war films ever but could still be adapted into the OWAW universe with a bit of light pummelling. Basically, what I'm saying is:

I think Flan jumped the wire.

FiMFiction.net: we might accept blatant porn involving the cast of My Little Pony but as God is my witness we have standards.

Whether or not a farmload of talking chickens are involved remains to be seen.

They hear the ball bouncing off the walls. They look inside to tell her to knock it off. They see it's actually Babar doing it. They begin to question their sanity and life choices. Babar does not stop. They go away.

They hear a ball being tossed back and forth. They look inside. Babar and Mr. President are tossing the ball. They have little baseball gloves. Nobody knows where the baseball gloves came from.

Babar and Mr. President both have 85+ MPH fastballs. They have never heard of the Hit By Pitch rule.

   Something I just wondered about...

...who found Baron Zoria's phone number? Based on the setup, I'm guessing Flan, and that we'll find out the details when she gets everybody caught up, but I could be wrong.

SWEET MARY MOTHER OF, G! That has to be the best way to end a fight like that I've seen in a while!

Given that Strike Witches is set in this alternate WW2 timeline, one would assume that the older 'Rocks and Shoals' apply rather than the UCMJ...

https://www.history.navy.mil/browse-by-topic/heritage/customs-and-traditions0/rocks-shoals-articles-government-usnavy-redirect.html

“The punishment of death, or such other punishment as a court martial may adjudge, may be inflicted on any person in the naval service... intentionally or willfully suffers any vessel of the Navy to be stranded, or run upon rocks or shoals, or improperly hazarded or maliciously or willfully injures any vessel of the Navy, or any part of her tackle, armament, or equipment, whereby the safety the vessel is hazarded or the lives of the crew exposed to danger,” pretty much describes what happened here, and a good case can be made for it since Mio IS the actual Squadron commander now.

> Lucchini didn't miss her cue. "Hey Shirley, how do you know?"

Heh. The classic opening to what sailors call a sea story!

> "Who are you talking to?" Remilia wondered.
>
> Flandre glanced at her. "Huh? Winifreda, obviously."
>
> There was a brief, baffled pause.
> "... Her name is Winifreda?!" said Erica, incredulous.

I'm trying to decide which bit is more amusing, the name Given her, or that Flandre is one of the few who can hear her...

> "Sleep well, Major," said Gryphon. "I'll most likely kill you in the morning."

Yep. All too possible. Now, StUlrich isn't a ship per se, but if she could convince an Admiralty board that Reimu really was putting people in danger...

Well, the IJA and IJN during the IRL WW2 considered each other the real enemy far more than the US. (I've seen at least one Weird War 2 game where the IJN pulled a coup and took over from the IJA, pulled out of the alliance with Germany, and went their own way.)

Yeah. BJ Blazkowicz is also the protagonist of the "Castle Wolfenstein" games, and is believed by many to be an ancestor of the MC of "Doom" and its sequels.

Or the version I heard for over-the-top stories:

"No shit, there I was, shoulder to shoulder and back to the wall, me and the army with David Bowie. And his knife."

The attempt to get every possible ridiculous cliche in it.
