"Little question from CSI 103"

I was rereading the CSI stories, and came upon this during the climax of Parallel Lines:

At the point of the chevron stood an unimpressive sort of
figure - a shortish, stocky, bearded man dressed in red Martian Army
fatigue pants, an Art of Noise T-shirt, a Knights cap, and a rumpled
old green trenchcoat. He had a sword in each hand and a wry little
half-smile on his face.

Those aren't his clan swords; he's lost those by now. Is there a story behind them, or are they just mundane replacements?

Fair enough. I only twigged because Raven pulled her sword, and then only on my (third? fourth?) read.

True.... and lets face it, in the hands of a Master, even a mundane sword is exceptionally nasty thanks to the inviolate blade technique.

I've read (and re-read) all of the stories. Don't remember UF-Gryph losing his blades, unless it was that trip to assist Raven with Akio.

It was indeed during the climactic battle of Raven: Blood Ties that Ryuu-no-tsume was lost, and Ryuu-no-ha destroyed, on the Oriphean dueling platform high above the fire plains of Muspelheim.

I'm not sure you're aware how much that sounds like a line from an epic poem, so I thought I'd point it out.

Makes you wonder if rogue buma go to Muspelheim when they're destroyed... Or, y'know, makes -me- wonder, anyway. I'm sure there's gotta be a few hundred thousand old enemies down there, though.

Judging from Skuld in Futureshock, I'd say so:

"Because it's not the time for that," she replied, shaking her head, "and I'm not the person to do it. But," she added with a satisfied little smile, "know this: You are already chosen. Muspelheim awaits you. I count the days." She leaned closer and whispered in his ear, "You should count them too."

It was the first thing anyone had ever said to Maximilien Largo which, by words alone, filled him with dread and terror.

He does seem like exactly the sort to be brought back by Surtur, but… narratively, it doesn't sit right. Largo's surved his purpose; it's time for him to stay dead.

Skuld didn't say anything about him having any power in Muspelheim. Can you think of anythink that Largo would hate more than being permanebtly reduced to a mere grunt in the armies of the Damned? 8)

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of Gryph's buma clone.

Actually, I can think of something worse. Since he's a machine life-form with an extreme bent of megalomania and power complex, I can imagine a worse punishment then being a grunt would be a lawn statue; a futuristic "Thinker" if you will. I can imagine Largo's hell to be sitting inert and unable to speak, but still able to think. He could fashion and formulate all the evil schemes and think dark and angry thoughts for all eternity, but couldn't move or talk or do anything about them. And his eyes would be open, just to make his life more boring. As a grunt, Surtur might be able to elevate him after all.

   No.

Largo comes to himself with no limbs and a 10-digit keypad in his chest...

Then again, having Largo "alive," even as a grunt, might be an unacceptable risk.
