"TFLF: CH 3.5"
|
How the heck has no one commented on this yet? Honestly, I know nothing and less about the production of music. (Me and music is like Corwin and art or ladies' fashion. I know what I like. But how it gets that way? No idea.) But I was pleased that the piece was written by someone who -does- know...without making it sound technical enough to go over my head. Using knowledge to add verisimilitude without harming the message. That I -do- know something about, and it ain't easy. I will admit that, in Mio's place, nothing Corwin did would have put me at ease. I would have been nervous throughout breakfast and not gone anywhere with him--would have left right there if he didn't make his point at the restaurant. But I'm paranoid a little more security-conscious than a high schooler, I admit. --------

She lives in a world (in the philosophical sense, not literally referring to Dìqiú) where that stuff doesn't happen much, and anyway, she wasn't uneasy about him, as such. She wasn't worried about her own safety, put it that way. Maybe I should look at clarifying that a bit. One of the benefits of this being an experiment, I can adjust it with rather more sense of freedom than I have about messing with Big Releases after they're out. Have to re-record the audio if I do, but hey, that's life in the big citymiddle of nowhere. :) --G. -><- Benjamin D. I was going to post but then the forum went all weird on me... Yeah, anyway, no musical skill here either but I enjoyed this one. Yui isn't the only one that's growing as a musician! Willard |

>Yui isn't the only one that's growing as a musician! There are a couple of different purposes for this particular chapter. One was to fill in some of the gap I inadvertently left in Volume One by skipping over the first week and a half of Kate's tenure, and better explain why Mio mentions Corwin a couple of times in later chapters. Another, though, was to try to reconcile Mio's assertion, repeated a couple of times in the canon, that she's a bassist because she wants to avoid attracting attention with the intricate, quite showy bass parts that are featured in many of HTT's songs (like "Cagayake! Girls"). --G. -><- Benjamin D. I'd've just figured that there was a disconnect between what her insecurities wanted and what her fingers thought was fun when she was in the zone and letting them run the show, but this works. ----- "V, did you do something foolish?" "Yes, and it was glorious." |

>I'd've just figured that there was a disconnect between what her >insecurities wanted and what her fingers thought was funOn a more serious note, I enjoyed this very much. It's short but very, very sweet, though I think you have to have more knowledge of the source material than I do to get the full effect. =] --- "She's old, she's lame, she's barren too, // "She's not worth feed or hay, // "But I'll give her this," - he blew smoke at me - // "She was something in her day." -- Garnet Rogers, Small Victory FiMFiction.net: we might accept blatant porn involving the cast of My Little Pony but as God is my witness we have standards. |

>How the heck has no one commented on this yet? In my case, because December is "work kicks my arse'o'clock" and I've barely had time to read it. I am remiss in my duties, and intend to rectify at the first sensible opportunity. :) ~Silv'

>How the heck has no one commented on this yet? >Just got a job last week. Temporary income, but long-term temporary. Kind of distracts me. As for commentary... "Have you ever watched the Who in concert with Ritsu?" "Not in person..." I wouldn't have expected that they'd had the chance to see the Who in person, but I admit that it would be great if they had.
