Well given his family would have preferred that the evacuation plans in the event the Neuroi over-ran Britannia (which would have sent them to Canada) included the King accompanying them*, I imagine the sentiment flows in both directions.
*I'm assuming, having not yet watched Strike Witches, that Neuroi occupation doesn't involve eradication of the human population and thus that remaining behind to lead a resistance movement would be feasible.
