I doubt it. Nall didn't; he just up and became a giant monster one day. (And then turned back into a cat because being a giant monster is bloody inconvenient a lot of the time.) It's magic.

>>[1178] that's what friends do - In fairness to Kate,
>>she's quite right: It's also what lovers do in Corwin's case,

Yes; yes he did.

>(In all fairness, that was probably already a really surreal evening
>for Corwin in general.)

"Probably"?

A tael is an archaic unit of weight (actually force, but like the pound, it dates to a time before the difference between mass and the force exerted by mass because of its acceleration due to gravity was understood); a ren is an object meeting certain standard specifications, one of which happens to be its weight (which may well have been expressed in tael back in the day). Not quite the same thing.

>Depending on how Fire Nation high society works, Azera might also be

In Azana's case, those of Azera's friends who are of a similar society bent figure they already know the answer to that. Which is probably another reason why Azera wants her to marry a man and have a child, actually, come to think of it...

>Should a male child ever be produced using Corwin's genetic materiel,
>one hopes that all involved resist the urge to name him "Merlin."

That seems unlikely on a couple of different levels. First, Corwin's not slated to father another child anytime that I presently know of; and second, if he did and it was a son, and the mother didn't have a preference of her own, he'd probably end up named after Corwin's grandfather. No, the other one. If I was Corwin's son and he named me Odin, I think I would go with Merlin after all. :)

>One also imagines pachinko snuck in there at some point.

That's not even a game, though, is it? I mean, that's like calling slot machines a game.

>Pointless digression the second: I like to imagine that during the
>Hundred Years War, there was an enormous cultural gap in approaches to
>bending between the guys on the front lines (people like Lieutenant
>Jee, for example) who had to do things like ride in tanks shooting
>fire at earthbenders and try to storm Ba Sing Se, and the officer
>class, guys like Zhao, who were into all that "bending as a martial
>art and spiritual expression of how AWESOME we all are for being
>firebenders" crap.

That's very possible, although Ito was an officer and he has more the former view than the latter. He does view it as an honorable craft and definitely recognizes that it has a spiritual component, but his general approach is much more workmanlike than, for example, what's-his-face in the fur hat.

Yes, I know it isn't really a fur hat.

>For completeness' sake, said thread may be found

Particularly Sokka.
