Well, that was the point of the exercise - historically, the name of the house is not something the members of the royal (i.e., Prussian) branch have used as a personal identifier. Only the princely (Swabian) branch did (and still does) that. If the monarchy were abolished the following Monday - and assuming Fritz went along with it and didn't insist on maintaining his regnal titles even after being deposed, like Wilhelm II did in real life - he would enter private society as Friedrich von Preußen. So, logically, his wife would be Frau von Preußen.

(Now, if she were his empress, she still wouldn't call herself anything with "Hohenzollern" in it; she wouldn't have a surname at all, nor even an overriding need for the other ones. Her subjects would call her Kaiserin Hannelore, but her proper style would be "Her Imperial and Royal Majesty the Karlslandic Empress and Queen of Prussia," of which, as with the Emperor of Fusō, there is only one.)

As an aside: after WWI, members of the old German nobility still had (and their descendants still have today) their old titles in their names, but under German law they're just part of their names - e.g., the brothers Wernher and Magnus Freiherr von Braun were not actually barons after 1919. In the scenario above, I doubt Fritz would be allowed to include "König" in his name, but it's worth noting that, in real life today, Wilhelm II's 2xgreat-grandson is still Georg Prinz von Preußen.

That's not going to happen, but regardless, what it means is that Hannelore's long-form legal name is (as noted in the original annotation) most likely to end with "und von Preußen" if she chooses to modify it at all. (She may not even bother.)
