Actually, no. While the Glock 17 does, indeed, hold 17 rounds in the standard version, this is not the reason for the name. The gun became '17' because, while it was the first gun, it was the 17th patent assigned to the company, Glock having made several polymer-composite items before, such as knife sheaths, handles and....curtain rods.
