"A Fragmentary Scene"

From a dream I had last night:

EXT. DAY A public square, probably somewhere in the Earth Kingdom; it's got that dusty everything-is-a-shade-of-yellow thing going on. TEAM AVATAR stand in a tight defensive formation in the middle of the square. From each of the four cardinal directions, a MOB OF BAD GUYS is charging toward them. Each one is different. There's some of those MAD MAX GUYS from "The Earth Queen", a gang of EQUALIST GIMPS, a bunch of SHAVEN-HEADED PUNKS, and what looks like most of the DAI LI.

Back-to-back with the others, ASAMI looks from one group of oncoming baddies to the next, visibly sizing them up and strategizing on the fly, before she starts giving instructions.

ASAMI
(indicating the punks)
Take the skinheads, Bolin.

I like it. I have no idea whether this will make the final cut, but it's a fun moment.

i think what amuses me most about this is the "one riot, one ranger" aspect of it, and the fact that it's not "you take the big guy, i'll take the little buy" but "you take the mob on the left, and i'll take the mob on the right" schtick..

You know, looking at the comments below, I am torn between two possibilities. Either the forum is, in the majority, too young to remember Camper van Beethoven, or they're too polite to castigate Gryphon for the excrable pun.

Given that this is the Internet, I think it's likely the latter. Go here, kiddies, and listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INnFvMgET1E&sns=em. And then GET OFF MY LAWN! *shakes cane*

Or they are simply oblivious to puns, like me. You can drop the most excruciating pun in the world and I won't even notice unless warned in advance, and even then I may have to have it explained.

I think it's because my brain runs on text rather than sound.

Aw, that's my second-favorite pun after "'You've killed my punishment beast,' said Jabba without rancor." And I dreamed it! It actually woke me up, and I missed the actual fight scene.

Ugggggh. My face hit the keyboard when I saw that. Thanks.

(And then I immediately shared it with my friends.)

Don't feel bad; all the very best puns are excrable. It's in their nature.

My only question is... were you dreaming you wanted to sleep next to plastic, and whose knees did you want to lick? (I understand if you don't want to answer that; it's sort of personal.)

Personally, I was just impressed that he had this dream but didn't forget what it was.

   KORRA
Master Nyima. Unlike SOME of my warriors, YOU never fail me. You will stay behind. I entrust Dìqiú to you, Nyima.

NYIMA salutes gravely.

NYIMA
Fear not, Avatar Korra. Dìqiú shall remain as you leave it.

INT. NIGHT. Stately Sato Manor. ASAMI and KORRA are eating dinner at opposite ends of a very long table in an enormous, ill-lit, vaguely intimidating formal dining room. They're so far apart they have to raise their voices slightly to converse. ASAMI seems blithely unaware of their surroundings, but KORRA looks profoundly ill at ease.

ASAMI
How's your soup?

KORRA
Uh... it's fine, thanks.

ASAMI
Good, good.

KORRA looks around.

KORRA
Um...

ASAMI
Hm?

KORRA
Do you really... enjoy eating in this room?

ASAMI
(puzzled by the question)
Oh, yeah.

She looks around, frowning thoughtfully.

ASAMI
(matter-of-factly)
You know, to tell you the truth, I don't think I've ever been in this room before.

She stands up, picking up her soup bowl, and grins.

ASAMI
What do you say we get out of here?
