Agreed, especially with the big concrete bowls. Those things were essentially passive sonar for use out of the water; some were built along the south coast of England in the late 1930s. They did sort-of work, and they had promise, but radar development quickly overtook their capabilities. Besides, they were as steerable (and portable!) as the Aricebo radio telescope...
