Upon reflection, I've decided that that's just the diehards' cover story. What they really mean is that Sarah's "dead to them" in the Colbert Report sense, because after her dad died and she saw how the wind was blowing, she and the Lone Wanderer decided to get the hell out of Dodge before the Fun Stopped. In '87 they're in New Vegas living it up, six years after demonstrating to Mr. House, the NCR, Caesar, the Mojave chapter of the Brotherhood, and anybody else who wanted some the folly of fucking with a couple of people who own an alien mothership. And having occasional threesomes with the other Sarah who runs Vault 21.

Well, maybe not that last part. But it's possible, I mean, Sarah W is a pretty wild chick.
