"Where to begin?"
|
Um... wow. There's a LOT posted since I last read/commented, and I honestly don't think nitpicking little details is either beneficial nor something I have time for, but I did want to touch on a few points. First of all, I like the whole Gallian Gothic arc in general, even if I can't say it grabbed me quite as hard some of the other various storylines have. That said, I think part of that is that it's been so long since I've been deep into EPU, and so I didn't quite remember everything that had happened. I honestly had forgotten that all of this happened after Kei's disappearance but before Warriors of the Outer Rim determined she was alive, so at first Gryphon's reactions felt off. But once I remembered all the details it made more sense. I will admit I wasn't expecting him to fall quite so far into the deep end quite so quickly, but I do recall his tendency to love people hard and fast in general, so it works. Not sure how he is going to deal with Remi's intent to share equally with Flan, but that's for another time. :) The whole Mogami arc is just plain fun - I still don't know what the underlying reality of that situation is, but way Gryphon and co. are dealing with it seems very logical (in the illogical reality of the Strike Witches universe :)). I look forward to seeing her fully equipped. Other than that, nothing stands out right now (but I'm distracted, so I might think of more later), but I'm certainly enjoying things and look forward to more. In all honestly, part of me looked at the rate of release prior to the new year and was surprised to see there hasn't been a new one yet, but I also know the realities of writing and that the speed of one episode doesn't imply the speed of another. :) That's it for now, and I look forward to the next part! >I honestly had forgotten that all of >this happened after Kei's disappearance but before Warriors of the >Outer Rim determined she was alive, so at first Gryphon's reactions >felt off. But once I remembered all the details it made more sense. Heh, much of Book 1, Act VII came about because I somewhat belatedly realized, in the midst of tidying up after the Actiony Bit, that there would probably be some people wondering about that. >I will admit I wasn't expecting him to fall quite so far into the deep >end quite so quickly, I wasn't either! It just kinda happened. :) >but I do recall his tendency to love people hard >and fast in general, ... as it were, >so it works. Not sure how he is going to >deal with Remi's intent to share equally with Flan, but that's for >another time. :) He's not really sure himself, but that's half the fun. >In all honestly, part of me looked at the rate >of release prior to the new year and was surprised to see there hasn't >been a new one yet, but I also know the realities of writing and that >the speed of one episode doesn't imply the speed of another. :) The pace of things from late last summer through Christmastime was facilitated by a number of factors, significant among which was the fact that I was physically unable to do thesis research, or much of anything else, on account of The Virus, so I had literally nothing else to do. Since my (surviving) advisor and I have decided to scrap the thesis in favor of completing an MA by coursework, that's no longer the case, and I'm getting prepared to resume (online) classes starting next week, with an eye toward finishing the degree sometime within this calendar year. Hopefully that's not going to shut me down altogether, because I've still got a lot of things I want to get done, but I do have to concede that the bubbling brain lava did cool a little bit over the holiday break. :) --G. -><- Benjamin D. Well, you were correct, and did a good job of explaining it without being pedantic or over the top. It made sense to have that conversation, and everything just flowed from there. >>I will admit I wasn't expecting him to fall quite so far into the deep >>end quite so quickly, > >I wasn't either! I wish you nothing but success in all your endeavors, and will enjoy whatever is posted when it happens. It seems to me she's not psychologically mature enough for that, and she needs to do some growing up before she tries dating anyone. Getting out and about in Paris and discovering an interest in the craft of toymaking was a good start on that, but she needs to, like, make friends her own subjective age, and take a few years to have the adolescence she didn't get to have before now. Maybe more than a few years; she's a vampire, after all, she's got time. |

The man has been quite fortunate in terms of both quantity and quality of paramours over the years, but he's not Ghengis Khan levels of prolific. I could see the Valkyries having an unofficial copy for humor purposes though, similar to So You Want To Be in a Relationship with Corwin (But He Hasn't Noticed) that they will neither confirm nor deny the existence of.

They are, but technically there was an update and errata to the third edition that counted as one in its own right, and then the one after that was incredibly divisive, and then a bunch of people made a kind of weird spinoff thing, and now that has a second edition out, and it's just a huge unsightly mess of tangled, blubbery nerd rage. Much like this joke, really. --- "She's old, she's lame, she's barren too, // "She's not worth feed or hay, // "But I'll give her this," - he blew smoke at me - // "She was something in her day." -- Garnet Rogers, Small Victory FiMFiction.net: we might accept blatant porn involving the cast of My Little Pony but as God is my witness we have standards. |
